Came here the other day for a birthday lunch and it was delicious! We shared the salad with anchovies which was crisp and fresh and the dressing also on point. For the mains, we tried the shrimp gnocchetti, the halibut, and the scallops - all cooked to perfection. I didn't try any of their cocktails but did have the elderflower mocktail which was tangy and refreshing. Dessert was amazing - the tiramisu with a twist, the millefoglie with pistachio and raspberry atop the deconstructed pate feuilletee was decadent and light. I had no idea that there was also a birthday dessert with the bomboloni and a mini pistachio cake from the kitchen! Service was incredible - we felt attended to by the wait-staff and I must say the bread basket that continued to circle the dining room was the cherry on top. The ambience was quiet but not stuffy - the perfect setting for a family meal. I would certainly come back here again to try other items on the menu!
Long overdue review. I had wanted to try this place for a while and opportunity arose during the X'mas holiday when we were in town from SF. We loved the food and service so much we returned with a friend for our last meal in town. Pasta and food was exactly what I had craved and missed - a cross b/w food in Italy and Italian food in Japan. Something we don't find at Italian restos in SF. Huge draw was also seeing my favorite razor clams (this one was prepared as a crudo)! We pretty much tried as much as we can on the menu during our 2 visits - caviar, oysters, crudos, pan-seared fish, scampi and most memorable was their pasta! Our favorite was the fusilli with red wine braised octopus and bone marrow and casarecce with lump crab, sea urchin and Calabrian chili. Be warned that one order of pasta was so HUGE, it was more than enough to share! Service was warm and attentive - they kindly sent us home with a box of yummy chocolate bon bon - and if you made it till here reading this, what are you waiting for?! GO. NOW.
Made a last minute 5pm dinner reservation for a solo dinner before a show. First mention is the service was impeccable; warm and attentive without being overbearing. Food was delicious! I got the pasta ribbons with king crab and breadcrumbs, and the broccolini. Both were absolutely delicious. Also got a grapefruit mocktail that was delicious, and they refilled your sparkling water as if it were tap water which I really loved. This place is definitely expensive, but was perfect for a treat-yourself dinner date.
Marea exceeded expectations on every level. The food was exceptional—fresh, flavorful, and beautifully plated. Service was attentive and seamless without being intrusive. The atmosphere strikes the perfect balance between elegance and warmth, making it ideal for both business lunches and special occasions.
Excelente pulpo but the ravioli is a bit heavy for dinner. Happy is the tiramisu. Waiters are nice. For friendly gatherings definitely yes.
If you’re looking for unforgettable Italian food and a vibe that makes you want to stay all night, this place is it. Hands down, the best spaghetti I’ve ever had—perfectly al dente, rich, flavorful sauce, and clearly made with love. It’s the kind of dish that makes you stop mid-bite and go, “Okay... wow.” And let’s talk about the bar—Rocky, the bartender, is a total gem. Not only does he mix a mean Negroni, but he’s got that rare combo of charm, professionalism, and genuine warmth. He makes you feel like a regular even if it’s your first time there. From the food to the service to the atmosphere, this spot delivers on all fronts. Can’t wait to go back!
Food is amazing ! Gnocchi my favorite plate and the dessert with pineapple, mango and passion fruit. Services was really good and amazing atmosphere. Not a loud restaurant , perfect to have a gathering. It is pricey but worth it.
We went to Marea tonight for my daughter’s birthday and had the best time. The staff were extremely attentive, kind, and helpful with recommendations. The food was incredible; we highly recommend the astice, fusilli, and the sogliola. Everything was prepared to perfection. We are looking forward to coming back next time. Our night was so special! 10/10!
